Welcome to Charleston First Church of the Nazarene. Our Church has a great heritage beginning in 1928. We have always had a ministry on the West Side of Charleston. However, we now consider our church to have a ministry to the entire Kanawha Valley, due to the mobile nature of people. Everything has changed since our humble beginnings with the exception of our mission and message.
Our Church has large dreams for the future. Dr. Jim Bond, General Superintendent, said the following in Holiness Today, August 2006:
“ The year 2008 will mark our denomination’s centennial. It is appropriate at this time to celebrate the past with its abundant blessings of God on the people called Nazarenes. Obviously, we must not linger long in our backward look. Any institution that has more memories than dreams has a questionable future. To realize God’s desired future, we must dream largely, plan strategically, act courageously, pray fervently, and place our faith firmly in the One who is the Head of the Church, who alone can help us fulfill His purpose for us.”
Our vision currently is focused on a new addition to our existing facility to serve as a Family Life Center. This will allow us to continue traditional ministries and will open doors for new ministries that will bridge our church with our communities.
